Element: Analyse source messages.
  • Attend to source utterances and make adjustments to assist concentration and comprehension.
  • Analyse discourse and speaker’s strategies to predict discourse direction.
  • Identify factors affecting the meaning of utterances.
       
Element: Recall source messages.
  • Use a range of encoding and other strategies to support, retain and ensure the accuracy of information.
  • Use interactional management techniques as appropriate to the setting to ensure the quality and reliability of recall.
  • Resolve problems of understanding and recall and seek clarification as required.
  • Review key information and relationships in source utterances.
  • Analyse notes for usefulness in recollection of messages.

Assessment Tasks

Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.

When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts.
